Introduction2


As we know human resource information system or commonly known as HRIS is a system that enables to coordinate the work process, provide the real time information, streamline the data and increase the effectiveness of the organization.
From what I have learned, there are three topics which are chosen for my reflective views. Human Resource information system also can be applied and used in web based employee learning and development, web based occupational safety and health, and web based compensation planning. Furthermore, based on what has been lectured by Dr.Roya, this web based application is commonly used in the organization because of their competitive advantage in the organization.
Web based employee learning and development can help to improve the productivity of the organization, web based occupational and health can ensure the risk of accident can be reduced, and web based compensation can be used to make the employee feel valuable.

Web based employee learning and development


  Assalammualaikum, today, I will explain and reflect on what I have learnt in the class of Dr. Roya about web based employee learning and development. Web based learning can be considered as an innovative approach to deliver the content for the employees.  The Web based learning and development can be used to provide learning and development for the employee to gain new knowledge.
            Moreover, the web based training should be designed effectively by using not only knowledge of traditional management skills, but also a solid understanding of the characteristic of the application. It should be designed, according to the needs of both organization and individual to achieve the goals mutually. Although the designing it requires a thoughtful analysis to maximize its potential, the involvement of the management is also essential to ensure its success. The opinion and ideas of the employee also can be used to create more effective application of web based learning and development.
Dr, Roya also stated that, web based learning can be used as a platform to deliver presentation that might be consist of text, audio and others. It allows a visit to the sites which has relevant topic about the organization and also provides real time information about what needed to be know by the employees.  The benefit of this application is enable a real time or synchronized discussion using text based technology such as chat rooms and others. It is an interactive application that allows the user to communicate and learn information that will always be updated. This helps the employee to learn something new that can be applied in their work. This application is beneficial as it can help to reduce resources and cost which is involved in the traditional training.
In addition, this application proved to be essential as it also save time, where in some situation, the employee might not be able to attend seminar or training. Therefore, this application offers multimedia information, tutorial, material to plan their own learning, or learn at their own pace. Every learner has a different style of way of learning, so this web application can be used as a platform for them to adapt to their own style. As the web can be accessed at any time, the employee will gain the ability to interact with each other or instructor at outside of the organization.  It also can be used without assistance. It can be concluded that if the organization consider the advantage and disadvantage of this system, it might help the organization as a whole.

Web based occupational safety and health

Hello everyone! Now I will explain to you about the details of web based occupational safety and health based on my understanding and from what have I learned from Dr. Roya in her lectures. Occupational safety and health is established to provide a workplace that is free from known hazard that can cause death or serious injury. It is related to protect the safety, and health of the employee that worked in the organization.

Furthermore, safety and health of all employees can also be protected if there are involvement of management and employee. There also should be workplace analysis to identify the problem that might occur, and provide necessary standard. Safety and health training can be conducted can help to prepare the employee for their own safety. This is also proved to be useful as, it will help to reduce the risk of getting injured and reduce the compensation cost or medical cost for the employee.

In the lecture, I heard that Dr.Roya stated that, Web based occupational safety and health is intended to provide knowledge and demonstrate the value as a guideline for the employee and manager. The knowledge provided might involve instruction on how to conduct the work more safely, and ways to reduce accidents at the workplace. It helps to standardize the procedure, providing instructions, and other information related to the safety in workplace. The increasing use of HRIS can facilitates the process of OSHA more effectively. It is essential to collect the records of employee personal data, employee injury and illness record to provide a better workplace. This will help the employees to comply and follow the OSHA standards. E-tools are also provided in the program, where it provides specific health and safety topics, guidelines to comply with certain regulations. E-Tools also provides sample of safety and health plan for the suitability of an industry. Employee also can gave question or get feedback on OSHA. In addition, the employee and employer also can be trained to comply and follow OSHA rules. The entire covered employee should report and notify the OSHA within eight hour if it involves three or more employees. This application will enable the analyzing of current level of risk and report of any accidents which can be used by the organization to improve the application. This application is important as the accident or illness will give negative impact to all parties.

Web based compensation planning

Assalammualaikum everyone! Now is the time for the reflection and my review of web based compensation planning. The logic might be easy to understand, but implementing this system requires a lot of effort and time. To standardize the multiple pay for one integrated compensation system is rather difficult. This application enables the organization to distribute and collect the data that involves compensation plan. It is designed to streamline all the data about the compensation planning.In addition, the company used Microsoft Excel to manage their compensation plan in the early days, but the system cannot manage a suitable budgets and financial model, where it becomes a failure to solve problems efficiently.
Nowadays, web based compensation is a must for an organization to manage their compensation plan. It is applied as a tool that can help fixed compensation, variable compensation and stock compensation. Example of software is PeopleSoft, where it can help defining standard rewards rules and identify the connection of rewards to job, grade and department. 
Moreover, the My SAP HR application also provides the management with the ability to design and implement innovative rewards plan. Furthermore, the organization will be depending on the HRIS to provide information of the employee in order to plan their compensation plan. It is based on the record of the employee on how are their performance and their contribution towards the organization. This application will ease the manager to maintain equity, and to link compensation with the strategic management of the organization. Manager also can view the individual performance rating online and increase the merit. Compensation system planned by the organization will show the appreciation towards employee achievement and encourages the employee to stay in the organization.
Dr.Roya says that it can help prepare the budget for salary planning, level of salary increase, performance evaluation, bonus allocation and rewards. In making decision, this system acts as a support to provide the accurate information. This will help the manager to decide on who should be promoted or what rewards should be given to the employee. This application can be accessed any time, to get information about compensation, salary where it is beneficial for both manager and employee. The application is also time saving because, the employee can get any feedback and information, without waiting for too long. The organization should practice this system to make sure the process of compensation planning is effective.

Conclusion 2



From what I have explained and elaborated, web based employee learning and development, web based occupational safety and health, and web based compensation and planning is the subject that I have learned in the Dr.Roya lecture.
From what I have learned from her lecture, I understand completely about the three topics. I found out that there are a lot of advantages to use this web application. The organization can apply the system to maximize the benefits of Human Resource Information System. This application provides the competitive advantages for the organization.
 Basically, the organization will have to develop this web application to help the employee to gain new knowledge and to increase productivity of the employee in the organization. Moreover, the web application can be used to decrease the risk of accidents. Besides that, based on the performance of the employee, the compensation plan can be developed to reward the employee.

Introduction: This is my story


This is how it all began; this is my story, my passion, and dedication to this beloved subject of Human Resource Information System, or commonly known as HRIS. I try to pour my whole heart into creating this blog.
The name that was given by my parents to me is Muhammad Khairuddin Bin Rosli. I was born in Johor Bahru at 27th June 1991. Now I am a student who is taking a course of Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Based on my knowledge, Human Resource Information System is software, or system designed to gives guide and assist the Human Resource Manager and employees.  Depends on how it is used, there are many ways to improve the performance in the organization as a whole. It also provides real data information for the organization. As an example, it can be used to store and collect information about the employees.  This system also helps to recognize employee performance in the organization.

Summary

In this conclusion, based on what i have discussed about earlier , Web Based Employee Self Service, Information and Competitive Advantage, and also the Human Resource Recruiting and Staffing, is the subject that i have learned in the lecture with Dr.Roya. Thanks to her, i understand about the Human Resource Information System.
From the three topic i have explained, i elaborate it by my own understanding,I now know that Human Resource Information System affect almost all aspect of an organization. The organization will have to plan strategically. HRIS also has many benefits, which is to streamline the data, provide real time information, reduce cost and time. In my opinion, it is a huge loss for the organization, if they neglect the involvement with the technology. Nowadays, in the competitive, and global world, technology is crucial, to compete and meet market demands.
I hope in the future, i will be given the opportunities to use the HRIS system, as it is effective for both employee and the organization.

Web Based Employee Self Service.





Assalammualaikum, Hi again! Now I will tell you about web based employee self service according to my understanding, based on what have been taught by Dr.Roya in the class. ESS involves the use of interactive technology by both employee and also management to receive information or update it for the benefits of organization. It also helps to streamline the data flow of information and helps to manage the organization. ESS also helps to collect personal information of employee, conduct transaction and others. Moreover, the workload for the human resource also can be reduced by using ESS.


In addition, the lecturer also mentions that, ESS provides the user with browser interface where they can deal with their own business without any difficulties. For example, the employee can apply for leave, check for internal job vacancies and others. The organization will have to understand how the system will benefit to employees and provide them with the real time information. ESS also has the function to maintain data which it can be applied with multiple access of technology. For example, Toyota Australia has improved the ESS function and provides the facility to access it in Electronic HR kiosk in the common meeting area. ESS also have been proven to be time saving.


The data in the ESS also should be clear and useful for the employee, where according to Ordonez (2002), ESS theme of delivering the information should be maintained to make sure employee can do their personal business with the right information. This will also help to eliminate confusion, and employee can access the system for information without emailing or making telephone call to the service centre. Moreover, ESS also plays a role of improving organization as a whole and according to Webster Buchanan (2002), the organization that use ESS stated that there are significant growth and they have best business practice.


ESS also has a lot of advantage for the organization, as it helps the administration to monitor their employee participation in the organization, speed up the information delivery, and ensure the personal information of employee is updated. The communication from the top to the down also becomes better, as the ESS provide a clear understanding about the information that was given by management. The employee also will feel satisfaction of handling the program by themselves, without the help of other people. Based on my explanation, I can say that I understand this topic.

Information and Competitive Advantage

Assalammualaikum and hello, in the lecture, Dr.Roya have stated about Human Resource Information System as an important system that can provide competitive advantages for the organization. HRIS is a tool that can be used to manage employees and process in the organization effectively. In this global world, technology is a must in order to compete with other organization. It is depending on how the organization makes use of the technology it has, or use the latest technology to meet market demand. If the technology used effectively, it can increase the performance of the organization as a whole. For example, Elf Atochem has made a wise choice of using Enterprise System for their organization, and it improve their customer relationship.


As we know, there are five competitive advantages that involve human resource information system. Cost leadership might involve the cost that has to be faced by the organization to produce their product and to manage the resources. The information system will help the organization to manage the resource and help them to identify which of the resources need to be used at the right time. A well planned organization with HRIS will achieve the advantage of low cost, and it can become the core advantage of the organization, because as the cost is low, they don’t have to charge high price to the customer but sometimes, they have to increase the price to meet the market demand.


Differentiation of strategy is also one of competitive advantage for the organization, as the different in product can create a good competition among the competitors. The HRIS can help the organization to identify the differentiation strategy that can be used to compete. In innovation of strategy, the HRIS system can help the innovation and ideas of employees to be used as an alternative for the management to make decision. In order for the organization to enter larger market, they must have growth strategies, so that they can apply the technology, in order to surpass their limit and achieve the organization goal even in the global market. Last but not least, the alliance strategy, involves making an alliance with the company that have benefit for the organization.

I have made use the knowledge that I received from Harvard Business Study and elaborated it in my understanding. After the case study, I have made use of the knowledge and achieved complete understanding on how the HRIS can affect the organization and give it competitive advantage.

Human Resource Recruiting and Staffing.


Hello everybody, today, I will tell you all about human resource recruiting and staffing, which is one of the key function for Human Resource Management. Recruitment is a process to find the right person, in the right place and right time.
From the lecture of Dr.Roya, i understand that, nowadays, it is easier for the organization to find better employee, with their expectation. There are many ways that can be used to recruit a new employee, where one of the ways that can be used is Electronic Recruitment. Electronic Recruitment can be done either using external or internal sources. The organization can post the job that needs the employment using the internet or intranet. There a large talent pool over the whole world that has diversity and different skills that might be needed by the organization. The applicants will not only include graduates, but also the people from other company, and others. According to Pearce and Tuten (2001), Internet is viewed as an important tool for recruitment in an organization. Moreover, Capelli (2001) also state that 90% of the companies in the United States use internet to recruit employees. This system also can be used to recruit the applicants from their own online website or other resources. For example, this technology can be applied through are job search engines, applicant tracking system and others.
Dr.Roya also stated that the advantage of the E-Recruitment can be seen from how it reduces the cost and time in the recruitment process. It also provides real time information, for the applicant and the human resources management. Furthermore, it will provide diversity and quality applicants to fulfill the organization needs. The applicant will just have to fill in the form in the organization web or other job searching web. They can fill in as many as form of job in any organization that they have interest.
In addition, the organization should have safety measures in E-recruitment. As we know, there are people that might cheat in order to get a job. For example, the applicants might use fake personal information. In the class, Dr.Roya have given us assignment to present about recruiting and staffing, advantage and disadvantage of online recruitment. Even my group was given the task to present in the class about technological issues that influence selection and solution that have been reached. After the assignment has been presented, i clearly understand about E-Recruitment in recruitment and staffing.
